Paddington Residence – A Home Reimagined
The Paddington Residence is a thoughtfully restored 19th-century terrace in Sydney. This project blends historic charm with contemporary calm. At the center of its design lies Oro Luce Limestone, a warm, golden-beige stone that sets the tone of the home.
Interior designer Alena Smith led the transformation. She celebrates the client’s African heritage while creating a refined, grounded space. By using Oro Luce throughout, she connects the home visually and emotionally. Its soft fossil markings and sun-baked glow bring texture and warmth, enriching the quiet color palette of roasted almond, clay, and bone.
From the entry to the living spaces, transitions feel effortless. Each room flows naturally into the next. Although materials and tones stay consistent, subtle details keep the design dynamic and engaging.
The interiors feel both timeless and personal. Oro Luce Limestone runs across floors and surfaces, catching natural light and enhancing the sense of calm. It not only unifies the space but also becomes part of the home’s story.
Where possible, the design preserves historic features such as cornices, fireplaces, and skirting boards. Meanwhile, new elements appear with care, never overpowering. This balance creates harmony between the old and the new.
Nothing in this home feels overdone. Instead, every decision reflects clear intention. As a result, the space feels lived-in, layered, and quietly luxurious.
Ultimately, the Paddington Residence goes beyond a simple renovation. It tells a story of heritage and design. It honors the past while embracing the present, offering a serene, soulful place to call home.
