The Church Residence Featuring Pacific Granite

STS Stone supplied Pacific Granite for The Church Residence, a unique three level residence in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Designed by Michiru Higginbotham and featured in House & Garden and ArchDaily, the home reimagines a former church and community theatre into a calm, modern living space.

Pacific Granite was selected for the kitchen benchtop, forming a central focal point within the home’s open plan layout. Its rich tonal variation and natural texture complement the neutral palette and add depth without distraction. The stone grounds the space and reflects the balance between heritage structure and contemporary design.

Known for its strength and low maintenance, Pacific Granite is ideal for high use areas such as the kitchen. Its durability ensures the surface performs well over time, while its natural movement enhances the material warmth of the interior.

STS Stone worked closely with the design team to select a slab that aligned with the overall vision. The result is a refined and practical surface that integrates seamlessly within the home’s layered mix of raw materials, soft finishes and natural light.

The Church Residence shows how a single well chosen stone can enhance a broader architectural story. Pacific Granite brings strength, texture and visual clarity to a space defined by its blend of old and new.

Our Pacific Granite may often be mistaken for marble. With its impressive veining across deep ocean blues & greys, you may achieve a marble look whilst maintaining the durability, low porosity and fleck-like elements, distinctive of granite.
